One Day Camera Skills. 9.30 - 5pm
This course is designed for people who currently use their cameras on “auto” and want to improve their photography.
Understand exposure, how your camera metres the light and how you can control it.
Learn the different modes of your camera and when to use them.
Take control of your camera to get great pictures in even the most difficult lighting situations.
Learn simple ways to improve your photography., through composition, depth of field and other creative controls
Don’t just take pictures ... Make pictures !

One Day Photoshop Skills 9.30-5pm
Using Photoshop Elements Eamonn will guide you through the workflow he uses for his own photography.
This will include
Cropping
Using Layers to maximise exposure
Dodging and burning
Clone stamp and healing brush to remove items from pictures.
Sharpening
Restoring old photographs
Resizing pictures
Converting to Black and white.
Preparing images for print.

Evening Light workshops 7pm-10pm
Accompany Eamonn on an evening light photography session. This is more of a “guided session” rather than an instructional workshop, though some instruction will be provided . Eamonn will bring you to photogenic locations close to Westport, and will be delighted to assist you to capture some great photos.!

Day one
Creative Camera Controls
Apertures and shutter speeds etc!
Exposure
How your camera meters the light and how you can take control.
Histograms
What they are and how to use them.
Composition
How to “make” a photograph not just “take” a photograph.
Shooting in RAW
Advantages and disadvantages.
Equipment
What is essential and what is not.
Planning
We will finish the morning by planning our afternoon field trip.
Lunch
Landscape field trip
After lunch we will go on a field trip exploring one or two locations to practise some of the skills learnt in the morning. During this session Eamonn will work with each participant individually.
On return to the studio we will review our day, critic some of the days images and plan for the morning field trip
Day Two
We will start the day early with a field trip to capture some early light photographs. Once again Eamonn will work with each participant individually.
We will return to the studio by 11am and begin work in the “Digital Darkroom “where Eamonn will demonstrate his working method for preparing his own images for print.
This will include:
• Processing Raw Files
• Using Adjustment Layers
• Dodging and Burning
• Cloning and Spot Healing
• Sharpening
• Sizing print.
• Converting to Black and White.
Lunch
After Lunch you will practise your Photoshop skills using your own images. You will have the opportunity to print and mount one of your own images as a permanent memento of your two days.
What you will need to bring:
Apart from your camera you will need a waterproof coat, and walking boots or shoes. We will not be doing anything too energetic but will be walking on uneven ground, and possibly on river banks, beaches etc.
If you have one you should bring a tripod, and any lenses or filters you may wish to bring.
