Weekend Landscape Photography Workshop
Digital Landscape Photography Weekend WorkshopFriday Evening
The weekend begins on Friday evening at 7pm when the group will come together for meet and greet and an introductory session on the Theory of Landscape Photography. During this session Eamonn will use examples from his own work to discuss;
Equipment
What is essential and what is not.
Creative Camera Controls
Apertures and shutter speeds etc!
Exposure
How your camera meters the light and how you can take control.
Histograms
What they are and how to use them.
Composition
How to “make” a photograph not just “take” a photograph.
Shooting in RAW
Advantages and disadvantages.
Planning and Preparation
We will finish by planning and agreeing the morning landscape fieldtrip.
Saturday Morning
Landscape Field TripDuring the morning field trip we will visit two selected scenic locations within a short distance of our base.
During this session Eamonn will work with each participant individually
Digital Darkroom
After lunch we will enter the Digital Darkroom where Eamonn will demonstrate his working method for preparing his own images for print.
This will include:
• Processing Raw Files
• Using Adjustment Layers
• Dodging and Burning
• Cloning and Spot Healing
• Sharpening
• Sizing print.
• Converting to Black and White.
You will use your own images from the morning session to practice all of the above.
Saturday Evening
Landscape Field Trip

We will visit another scenic location to photograph in the evening light and hopefully photograph an Atlantic sunset.
Sunday Morning
Another opportunity to practice our photography skills with a third field trip. On return to base you will again practice the digital editing skills learnt the day before. You will have the opportunity to select one image that you would like to see in print and print it using the studio printer. This will provide you with a permanent memento of your weekend. Naturally Eamonn will be on hand at all times should you need help.
After lunch we will finish printing and hold a review of all the prints.
We will finish around 3pm with a review of the skills learnt and Q&A session
What you will need to bring:
This course is designed for people using an SLR Digital Camera, or compact cameras with full manual control.
Warm waterproof clothing and good walking boots are essential. While we are unlikely to trek very far we are going to be on uneven ground and of course we have to expect there could be rain!
A tripod is certainly recommended.
Dates for workshops in Westport to be announced.
