Take a wider view

10th January 2014
Its pouring rain again here in Mayo this morning. We have had so much rain over the last few weeks there is water everywhere ! Its also interesting to see how pictures can tell stories. Yesterday as I drove between Balla and Claremorris I passed a this lovely scene,

the sun was shining and I noticed the reflection of the wall in the water. So I did a U turn in the car and went back to get the picture, I am sure you will agree its a pretty sight. it could pass as a beautiful lake in the West of Ireland, if you look carefully you can see the patterns in the field caused by the "lazy beds" or potatoe ridges dating back to famine times, and of course the stone wall is also characteristic. But if you take a wider view you can see that really, it is far from the the idyllic scene as depicted in the first picture.
